At the heart of all AMPTech systems is an intelligent control unit that continuously monitors vehicle status and centrally controls all elements of the extension. The tailgate continues to be opened and closed via the Tesla Model S's standard electronic liftgate. The AMPTech Motion Detection Module also allows the tailgate to be operated by foot gesture. The interface is integrated in the area of the rear bumper. In addition, the AMPTech intelligent control unit allows the boot to be opened by foot gesture only when the vehicle is at a standstill and the selector lever is in the P parking position. This prevents raised kerbs, wash stations or other objects from triggering the module. Of course, the mechanical emergency release of the luggage compartment remains unaffected by the AMPTech extension.
