At the heart of all AMPTech systems is an intelligent control unit that continuously monitors the vehicle's status and centrally controls all elements of the expansion. The tailgate continues to be opened and closed via the Tesla Model S/X/3 2021+'s standard electronic liftgate. The AMPTech Motion Detection Module additionally enables operation of the tailgate by foot gesture. The interface is integrated in the area of the rear bumper. In addition, the AMPTech intelligent control unit enables the boot to be opened by foot gesture only when the vehicle is at a standstill and the selector lever is in the P parking position. This prevents raised kerbs, car washes or other objects from triggering the module. Of course, the mechanical emergency release of the boot remains unaffected by the AMPTech extension.
